UPDATE: BC Ferries has cancelled afternoon sailings due to stormy seas.
The ferry corporation, which had previously cancelled morning sailings across the Strait of Georgia and some other routes, has cancelled more sailings into the evening.
Sailings to and from Nanaimo鈥檚 Departure Bay and West Vancouver鈥檚 Horseshoe Bay are cancelled through to 6:35 p.m.
Sailings between Tsawwassen and Nanaimo鈥檚 Duke Point are cancelled through to 5:45 p.m. and sailings between Tsawwassen and Victoria鈥檚 Swartz Bay are cancelled through to 5 p.m.
Sailings on the route between Comox鈥檚 Little River and Powell River鈥檚 Westview terminal are also cancelled through to 5:15 p.m.
Some minor routes are also seeing afternoon cancellations.
PREVIOUSLY POSTED: BC Ferries is cancelling numerous sailings for tomorrow with choppy seas expected on the Strait of Georgia.
The ferry corporation issued a series of service notices advising of cancellations on Monday, Oct. 25, due to 鈥渁nticipated adverse weather conditions.鈥
鈥淭he safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We don鈥檛 take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations,鈥 noted BC Ferries. 鈥淲e will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.鈥
All Monday morning sailings to and from Nanaimo鈥檚 Departure Bay and West Vancouver鈥檚 Horseshoe Bay are cancelled, as are the 1 p.m. sailings from those terminals.
The 5:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. sailings between Tsawwassen and Nanaimo鈥檚 Duke Point are cancelled, as are the 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. sailings between Tsawwassen and Victoria鈥檚 Swartz Bay.
Sailings on the route between Comox鈥檚 Little River and Powell River鈥檚 Westview terminal are also cancelled on Monday morning.
Customers with reservations will have their bookings cancelled and will be refunded, and 鈥渢ravel will revert to a standby basis,鈥 noted BC Ferries.
