The North District Major Crime Unit (NDMCU) were deployed after a man's body was found near Mackenzie, B.C. on Dec. 28, 2024.
The RCMP issued a release on Dec. 29 stating the Mackenzie RCMP responded to a report at 10 a.m. on Dec. 28 of a man lying on the edge of the Finlay Community Connector Forest Service Road.
This is part of the road network which connects Mackenzie to Fort St. James and Mt. Milligan Mine.
When officers arrived on the forest service road, near the Litnit Creek bridge, they located a deceased male.
NDMCU has since taken over the investigation and is working with both the Mackenzie RCMP and the BC Coroner's Service, said the release.
Any witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area of the Finlay Community Forest Service Road near the Litnit Creek bridge between 9 p.m. Dec. 27 and 10 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2024 with dash-camera video are asked to contact the Mackenzie RCMP at 250-997-3288.
