According to BC Wildfire Services, the blaze is around five hectares in size and burning at a category 2-3 rank meaning low to moderate.
Three wildfire crews are attacking the fire, along with three helicopters bucketing. Local firefighters, officers, and Capital Regional Staff (CRD) are also on scene.

BC Wildfire Services has confirmed the fire is human-caused.

The wildfire in Sooke Potholes Regional Park is now three hectares in size.

A new wildfire has been discovered in Sooke Potholes Regional Park on Monday, July 22.
A spokesperson from the District of Sooke said that emergency crews and BC Wildfire Services are actively responding to the incident.
The fire has closed the park until further notice. As a precaution, the campground has been evacuated and all persons were asked to leave the area.
According to BC Wildfire Services, the blaze is 0.009 hectares in size and is out of control. The suspected cause is under investigation.
The District of Sooke said this is an ongoing situation, and updates will be provided.
