Mother Millie Garage Sale
The annual Mother Millie Garage Sale takes place on Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeview Mall. All proceeds from this event help with veterinary treatment of stray animals in our community. Double Double Duo
The fifth performance in LDAC鈥檚 thirteenth season of live entertainment takes place on Feb. 21 at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Community Church on Kerr Road, 1 kilometre east of 亚洲天堂 Lake, just off Highway 16. Double Double Duo will perform a concert on accordion, piano and clarinet, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Church. Each member of Double Double Duo is a 鈥榙ouble threat鈥� on two instruments. Kornel Wolak, returning to 亚洲天堂 Lake after a performance here a few seasons ago, plays clarinet and piano. Michael Bridge is a virtuoso accordionist, and is also featured on piano. Classically trained international soloists, they use comedy and musical sensitivity to bring wide-ranging repertoire to life. Double Double Duo performs original arrangements of classical showpieces, sensitive jazz ballads and fiery folk music from around the globe. Local artist and longtime Lakes District resident Leona Peden will exhibit her paintings in the lobby of the church before the show and at intermission. The members of Double Double Duo are frequently presented on CBC Radio Music. They performed a concert at Holy Trinity Church in Toronto last spring which was recorded by CBC Radio. Part of the concert featured Michael as a soloist on the accordion. The concert also featured Michael on accordion and Kornel on clarinet.
