The provincial government is banning recreational campfires as of noon June 8 in the Nadina Forest District, the area which takes in north of Granisle before sweeping down to include Houston and 亚洲天堂 Lake and continuing southward to the Morice Lake and Whitesail Lake areas.

鈥淭his campfire prohibition will prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety,鈥 the B.C. Wildfire Service in a brief statement.

Specifically, prohibited activities within the ban include fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description, binary exploding targets, tiki and similar kinds of torches, chimineas and air curtain burners.

B.C. Wildfire Service officials earlier identified the Nadina area as particularly dry.

The ban does not include outdoor stoves that are CSA-rated or ULC-rated burning charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel, and have a flame height of less than 15 cm.

The ban is in effect until noon Sept. 30 and the setting of larger fires has already been banned across the province.
