亚洲天堂 Lake born and raised Jeff Scott was announced as one of three winners of a modified van through an online contest.

Scott damaged his spinal cord in a 2010 snowboarding accident that left him quadriplegic and wheelchair bound. Over the next year of intense rehabilitation, he regained partial control of his wrists and arms.

With friends, he started the Live it! Love it! Foundation which runs outdoor recreation activity programs for people with spinal cord, or other disabling injuries. The new van will play a large role in Scott鈥檚 ability to continue to do the work of the foundation.

鈥淚鈥檓 truly honoured to have won,鈥� said Scott. 鈥淚 couldn't be where I am without the support I have, and for that I am incredibly grateful. I feel as though my wings are about to spread a little more and I'll be able to fly a little farther on my own.鈥�

The van will be shipped to Victoria sometime in the next two weeks, where it will be outfitted to fit Scotts specific mobility needs.

Scott will sell his old van - with over 400,000 kms on it - as part of his next effort which is to raise the money he鈥檒l need to get the van across the border into Canada.

鈥淢y plan for the old van will be to try and sell it as it sounds like there will be upwards of $12,000 in fees to get my new van across the border and to me in Victoria,鈥� Scott said.

The National Mobility Awareness Month campaign resulted in Scott鈥檚 bid for votes reaching a final count of 20,551. This was enough to put him into the semi-finalist category. Semi-finalists were reviewed by a group of mobility specialists and three winners of a new van were announced on June 7, 2013.
