亚洲天堂 Lake Mayor Luke Strimbold received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal on Feb. 26, 2013. The ceremony, held at the Parliament Building in Victoria, honoured Strimbold and other medal recipients for their contributions to community and country.
Premier Christy Clark presented the medal to Strimbold.
鈥淚t was an honour to be there with so many remarkable British Columbians,鈥 Strimbold said. 鈥淏eing awarded this medal means a lot to me personally and I hope that it also means a lot to the community of 亚洲天堂 Lake. It is truly an amazing community, and I am very pleased to receive the award as their mayor.鈥
Strimbold was asked to make an acceptance speech on behalf of all the medal recipients that attended the event.
鈥淚t is not necessarily extraordinary measures that effect change, but the common actions of many individuals that will create a better place to live,鈥 said Strimbold. 鈥淭he recipients recognized here have made tremendous contributions to our communities across the province.鈥
The medal was created in 2011 to mark the 60 year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II鈥檚 ascension to the throne.
