A new web camera installed at the intersection of Hwy. 16 and Augier Forest Service Rd., approximately 20 kilometres east of 亚洲天堂 Lake and at the turn off to Pinnacle Pellet, is now live on the province鈥檚 DriveBC website.
The west facing camera is providing real time coverage of highway conditions in the area and aims to help motorists plan a safer journey.
The camera is the final component of recent improvements to the intersection, designed to increase safety for both motorists and industrial traffic.
As reported in the Lakes District 亚洲天堂 edition of Aug. 17, 2011, the intersection serves a major logging road, as well as Pinnacle Pellet Inc. and Babine Forest Products Ltd.
Safety concerns prompted the government to move forward with upgrades including the addition of a left hand turning lane, a right hand deceleration lane and improved lighting.
The Augier Forest Service Rd. web camera is one of 30 new web cameras to be added this year and adds to 13 others already in place in locations along the Hwy. 16 corridor.
The DriveBC website, which was launched in 2005, provides access to the existing network of web cameras, road condition updates, travel advisories, road closure information for provincial highways and up to date weather information.
