Nadina Lake Lodge, a wilderness retreat situated on Nadina Lake, nestled near the base of Sibola mountain range, is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. Since its establishment in 1958, the lodge has become a popular destination for many locals and visitors in the Lakes District area.
Brad Thompson, the current owner of Nadina Lake Lodge, reflected on the lodge鈥檚 rich history and the family鈥檚 enduring connection to this idyllic location. 鈥淢y uncle, Joe Gourdeau, founded the lodge with the Fosters (John and Daisy Foster) in 1958,鈥 Brad explained. 鈥淎fter several years, Joe bought out the partners and became the sole owner of the land, business, and guiding territory. Until his passing in 1997, Uncle Joe dedicated his life to nurturing this lodge.鈥
Brad and his wife, Wendy, took over the lodge鈥檚 operations after Gourdeau鈥檚 passing, carrying on the family legacy. Although they don鈥檛 have any specific plans for the 65th anniversary celebration, the couple fondly remembers the well-attended festivities held five years ago for the lodge鈥檚 60th milestone.
Today, Nadina Lake Lodge offers a range of accommodations to suit every visitor鈥檚 needs. From self-contained cabins for rent to spacious camping spots, guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the picturesque beauty of the area. The lodge also provides boat, kayak, and canoe rentals, allowing visitors to explore the pristine waters of Nadina Lake and its surrounding lakes.
Renowned for its exceptional fishing, hunting, berry picking, and wildlife viewing opportunities, the Nadina Lake area has become a go-to destination for nature enthusiasts.
鈥淣adina Lake Lodge offers a unique experience to our guests,鈥 Brad shared. 鈥淲e are situated a little further out in the 鈥榳ild鈥 than most other lodges, which allows us to provide excellent scenery, rustic yet clean cabins, and quiet and friendly hospitality.鈥
One of the highlights of a stay at Nadina Lake Lodge is the opportunity to gather around the campfire and share stories. Brad added, 鈥淲e have way too many stories to tell, and it鈥檚 part of our hospitality to regale our guests with stories.鈥
Reflecting on the lodge鈥檚 journey, Brad said, 鈥淲e have countless cherished memories from our time here. Alongside the joys, we have faced a few challenges, but every year, we continue to push ourselves, creating new experiences for ourselves and our guests.鈥
As for the future, Brad and Wendy hope to continue serving the Lakes District area and sharing the wonders of Nadina Lake with visitors for many years to come.
