All ferry sailings to and from Nanaimo鈥檚 Departure Bay on Monday were cancelled due to rough seas, and more cancellations followed on Tuesday.
B.C. Ferries issued a service notice in the late morning on Monday, Nov. 7, advising that it was cancelling all sailings between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay for the rest of the day due to 鈥渁dverse weather conditions.鈥
A social media post from B.C. Ferries noted that 鈥渢he current sea state and high winds have made sailing from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay today unsafe.鈥
There were also cancellations affecting the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route.
The ferry company issued more service notices Monday night advising that the first two round-trips of the day between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay on Tuesday, Nov. 8, were cancelled. Service will resume on the route at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.
鈥淭he safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us, and we will keep you informed as more information becomes available. We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of these sailing cancellations,鈥 said B.C. Ferries.
