The environmental assessment process for the Pacific Booker Minerals Inc. (PBMI) proposed development of the Morrison property, 35 kilometres north of Granisle, has been temporarily suspended. PBMI stopped the environmental assessment process on Oct. 28, 2010, of their own accord as they were asked to provide further clarification on a number of points in their application.

Yet another two staff position within the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake have become vacant. New recreation director Dan Deschamps handed in his resignation after just five months on the job. Also chief administrative officer Tim Palmer and director of engineering Paul Carver both handed in their resignations.

North District Major Crime Unit, in assistance with the 亚洲天堂 Lake RCMP is investigating the suspicious death of a 17 year old Southside teen, Chassidy Charlie. On Jan. 26, 2011 at approximately 3:45 p.m. RCMP responded to a call of an unconscious 17 year old female at a home on Uncha Mountain Rd. Upon their arrival police determined that the female was deceased. "The scene was cordoned off and the forensic identification section was called in.

亚洲天堂 Lake and the surrounding area will have no regular doctors working at the Lakes District Hospital at end of April 2011, when Dr. Lennard Pretorius, chief of staff Dr. Alan Hill, Dr. Michael Graetz and Dr. Gregory Norman's recent resignations take effect. The four doctors all handed in their resignations to Northern Health last week giving the required 90 days notice and will only be available to work at the hospital until April 30, 2011.

The majority of 亚洲天堂 Lake Band on reserve members say they will no longer recognize the current chief and council of the 亚洲天堂 Lake Band. Past councillor Ryan Tibbetts said that band elders and on reserve members have now initiated the removal of Chief Albert Gerow, Coun. Wesley Sam and Coun. Dan George. A total of 25 亚洲天堂 Lake Band on reserve members signed a petition which was presented to Chief Gerow and councillor Dan George on Feb. 14 stating that the original band members do not recognize or acknowledge the present chief and council.

The crew from Octane Addictions put on two shows at the Cold Smoke Drag Races despite being one man down. Octane Addictions rider Whitney Hungerford suffered a broken ankle, a broken femur, two crushed heels and a dislocated elbow during a practice run at the Babine Lake Road race site on Saturday afternoon. He was initially transported to the Lakes District Hospital to be stabilized and x-rayed then transported to the Prince George Regional Hospital later that afternoon.

Hampton Affiliates' Babine Forest Products mill is shut down due to a large fire that damaged the main operating lines at the mill. According to Dave Garcia, Hampton's Canadian regional operations manager an electrical failure at the sawmill resulted in a the fire breaking out on March 1.

Carrier Lumber president Bill Kordyban said that Cheslatta Forest Products Ltd., located on the Southside would not be shutting up operations and relocating to Saskatchewan contrary to rumours. The announcement that the mill would be closing its local operations and moving to Saskatchewan was made late last year by Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake Coun. John Illes during a regular council meeting.

Fort Qu鈥橝ppelle RCMP are looking for information about what led to the killing of a 21 year old 亚洲天堂 Lake resident in Fort Qu鈥橝ppelle on Feb. 19, 2011. At approximately 4 a.m. on Feb. 19, 2011 RCMP officers were called out to Craigleith Avenue, in Fort Qu鈥橝ppelle to investigate a report of an injured man. Once on the scene officers attempted revive Daniels by administering CPR, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. A memorial service was held for Daniels in 亚洲天堂 Lake on Feb. 27, and his burial was held the next day.

Lake Babine Nation chief, council and membership celebrated the certification of two of their local schools last week. The announcement came at the end of a year long assessment process for both the K'ay Skak Higher Learning Centre, a Grade 8 to 12 school, and the Morris Williams Memorial Preschool, both are located on the Woyenne Reserve in 亚洲天堂 Lake. Fort Babine Elementary School, Lake Babine Nation's third school located in Fort Babine, had already received prior certification.

Negotiations over the operation and ownership of the 亚洲天堂 Lake Medical Clinic have now ceased, with local doctors deciding to maintain control of the privately owned clinic. 鈥淥ne of the reasons that we had involved Northern Health with the clinic in the first place was because we were afraid that the costs of running the clinic would be so great that we wouldn鈥檛 manage to sustain it," Dr. Alan Hill, chief of staff explained.

The 亚洲天堂 Lake Braves hockey team will not be lacing up their skates this coming season. After a meeting last week the team have decided to fold. Wes Hart, 亚洲天堂 Lake Braves goalie said to Lakes District 亚洲天堂 that a lack of players has forced the team off the ice.

Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake fire chief Jim McBride gave council an update on the local flooding situation, saying that he expects water levels to continue to increase over the coming weeks. He said that there was some anxious moments when water levels in Saul Creek rose quickly. Properties along Pioneer Way have been impacted by rising water and sand bags are place. Water has also impacted Gerow Island and Decker Lake.

After a long and emotional journey, Cheslatta Carrier Nation's Chief Corrina Leween decided not to re-run for chief in last week's election. Leween said not running in the election this year is not out of her lack of desire to represent the nation, but rather that the position of chief can be stressful and has takes its toll on those in the position. "I will continue to live in the community and keep involved with the Cheslatta band and its members," said Leween. Richard Peters who had previously held the position of councillor for two years with former Chief Leween, received a total of 50 votes and was named chief. New councillors are Michael Charlie who received a total of 80 votes and Hazel Burt who received a total of 67.

Plans for the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake's downtown core revitalization project are set to take on a phased in approach. The announcement was made when council agreed to pay $3,000 for the study that, when completed, will serve as a guide to phase in components of the project. Chief administrative officer Sheryl Worthing said the project is an important part of the village's 2012 budgeting process. "The phase in will be helpful as we can't afford to complete the entire project in 2012," she said.

The latest report to investors regarding the estates of defunct local companies, Area Finance Inc. and 439288 B.C. Ltd. indicates that the estimated return to them will equal one cent per dollar of claim. This means that a $300,000 investment will only see a return of approximately $3,000. More than a year after Pricewaterhouse Coopers Inc. was appointed as trustee for the bankruptcy proceedings for the two companies, investors are still waiting for the saga to unfold.

It was a case of no work and no pay for the Canada Post employees in 亚洲天堂 Lake. Local employees turned up for work to find they had been locked out by the company. Not only were the outlet's doors locked but the red post boxes had been screwed shut. Employees Bonnie Heagy, Angela Lacey and Marleen Hiebert formed a picket line outside the post office and answered a multitude of questions from confused locals who arrived to pick up or post their mail.
