Notice is hereby given that at its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers, #1 Village Square, Mcdonald Ave., Granisle, BC, Village of Granisle Council will consider the following bylaw for first reading:
鈥淰illage of Granisle Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 508-B, 2024鈥 to amend the Village of Granisle Zoning Bylaw No. 508, 2019 to comply with the legislated minimum density requirements enacted by Bill 44 (provincial housing legislation) to reasonably accommodate small scale housing development in the Low Density Residential District R-1.
鈥淰illage of Granisle Zoning Bylaw No. Bylaw No. 508, 2019鈥 is proposed to be amended by Bylaw No. 508-B, 2024 to amend the definition of a Single Family Dwelling to include a Secondary Suite and add new definitions for Secondary Suite and Secondary Dwelling; and amend the R-1 Zoning District to permit a Secondary Dwelling unit. The R-1 District currently allows a two family dwelling, however with this amendment a second dwelling unit is permitted in the form of either a Secondary Suite in a Single Family dwelling or a Secondary Dwelling unit.
As Bill 44 prohibits local governments from holding public hearings for Zoning amendments specifically initiated to comply with Bill 44 requirements, the Village will not be holding a public hearing for the above bylaw.
Copies of the proposed bylaw and relevant information may be inspected at the office of the Village of Granisle between the hours of 8:30 A.M. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, June 7 through June 18, 2024 inclusive.
