BRAATEN, Audrey (nee Mulder)

1951 - 2006

Audrey Braaten, beloved wife of 37 years to Wayne, passed away in Calgary on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the age of 55 years. Audrey was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, but grew up in Quesnel, BC, and moved to Calgary in 1984 to pursue her education. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Biochemical Genetics in 1990. She wrote science textbooks for Alberta Education, then worked as a technical writer with Imperial Oil. Audrey was also a Foster Parent for 10 years, and spent the last 5 years enjoying retirement in Southbank, BC. Besides her loving husband Audrey is remembered by her son Ryan (Barb) and their children, Zowie, Aryn and Ashleigh; daughter Tanis (Alex) Golin and children Rebekah and Sienna; mother Rika Mulder; brothers Tony (Marg) and Rob (Pat), and sister in law Marilyn (Henry) Wiebe. Aunt Audrey will also be missed be her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Albert in 1984. Audrey courageously accepted her diagnosis of lung cancer at the end of March 2006, and faithfully trusted her Lord's calling home. Memorial Services will be held at Centre Street Church, 3900 - 2 Street NW, Calgary, on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Tim Volkman Presider. Graveside Services will be held in 亚洲天堂 Lake, BC on Friday, July 14, 2006. Memorial tributes may be made directly to Ootsa Lake Bible Camp, c/o Grassy Plains Gospel Church, R.R.2, 亚洲天堂 Lake, B.C.
