Dale Hawse, 82 died Monday April 11 at the 亚洲天堂 Lake District Hospital following a brief illness.
Dale leaves his children: his sons, Ian Hawse, Glen Hawse, Scott Hawse; his daughter, Sally Hawse; his brothers and sisters, and his cherished grandchildren and close friends. Dale was preceded by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Tedesco) in 2005 after 50 years os marriage.
Born in Vernon, BC. Dale was the eldest son of Don and Janice Hawse (Bassette). He was raised in Penticton, BC and in Vancouver, BC. Dale was a long time resident of Tintagel, BC. In the early depression years Dale helped his family by picking vegetables in Penticton. Later, he caught rivets on the Vancouver docks, and then worked as a cook on the coastal tug boats, a job he treasured for providing him with an opportunity for sharing his love of cooking. Dale's family moved to the 亚洲天堂 Lake area in the early 1940's after purchasing a motel here. For a time Dale and his brothers operated a small private sawmill. He then joined the Canadian Air Force and specialized in radio transmissions. Dale always retained a love of travel, scenic drives and of the history of 亚洲天堂 Lake district pioneers. He met his wife Elizabeth in Trenton, Ontario while on Air Force duty. They were married in 1955 in Tintagel, BC and resided in Comox, BC until the completion of his Air Force service. They settled in Tintagel where Dale worked for his father at DB Hawse & Sons prior to opening The Barn, his own electronic goods and repair store. He took pride in his business and as an avid blues, jazz and big band fan, was a longtime collector of vintage records. In particular Dale enjoyed the restoration and repair of vintage and antique radios. Early training as a choir boy ensured that Dale's singing voice was always equal to his records.
A memorial service will be held in early September 2011 in the 亚洲天堂 Lake area with a private scattering of his ashes.
