Edith Cavell Bendiksen was born to Ruth and Peter Bendiksen in Ryley, Alberta on December 11, 1916. Edith married Melvin Theodore Stronstad in Ryley, Alberta on November 25, 1936. Melvin was a clergyman with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Together, they pastored for 40 years in numerous communities in Alberta, as well as in Gibsons, Smithers and finally ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake, B.C. After serving in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake from 1960 to 1975, the Stronstads retired to the Lower Mainland.
Edith was a true, loyal and ever supportive companion to her husband – as a spouse, as a parent and as a companion in ministry. Irrespective of circumstance, Edith lived a life of quiet, but robust thankfulness. She modeled graciousness, generosity and gratitude. She was a remarkable lady – a truly exemplary woman of God. Edith loved music, gardening, and entertaining, but most of all, loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Edith was predeceased by her husband Melvin in 1987, and leaves to mourn her son Roger (Laurel) Stronstad of Abbotsford, daughter Irene (Rob) Jonas of Abbotsford, son Cliff (Dawn) Stronstad of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake, as well as four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
