HERMAN EDWARD MILLER

On September 17, 2003 Mr. Herman Edward Miller of Chase, B.C. passed away at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops at the age of 84.

Ed was predeceased by his wife Gertrude on March 3, 2003, his son Don, parents Otto and Alta, his sister Louise and his brother Dick.

Dad will be remembered by daughter Fay (Robert) Reading, son Robert (Tammy) Miller, daughter-in-law Sandra Miller, his seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Edith, Bonnie, Elsie and Bert.

Ed was born in Watseka, Illinois on December 2, 1918. Ed and his parents moved to Manitoba when he was almost a year old, then at age ten the family moved to Palling, B.C. When Ed was old enough, he helped his dad with the logging and cutting of railroad ties. As a young man Ed had his share of adventures including traveling to the Calgary Stampede by box car in 1938. He also spent time in the army serving his country. Ed and Gert married in 1944 and settled in Palling to raise their family. In 1953 they moved to the Salmon Arm and Chase area. Ed worked in the farming, logging and ranching industries throughout his life. Over the years Ed and Gert were able to travel, camp and fish with family and friends something they both enjoyed.

Ed was a kind and gentle man, who always saw the best in everyone. He will be dearly missed.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2003 at the Chase Royal Canadian Legion. Arrange-ments entrusted to Schoening Furneral Service.
