IRMGARD ANNEMARIE POSSELT

September 11, 2003

June 24, 1925 - Sept. 11, 2003Irmgard was born June 24, 1925 in Berlin, Germany. After finishing school, she did an apprenticeship at the Biological Research Institute to become a Biological Research Assistant. Also in Berlin she met and married Walter Posselt. They moved to Westfalia where Juergen was born, moved back to Berlin where Klaus was born five years later and then went to live in a small village near Stuttgart where they had Frank. In 1970 the family emigrated to Canada. They crossed on the last scheduled trip of the last passenger ship, the 鈥淪tefan Batory鈥, to make the transatlantic crossing. They arrived in Montreal and drove across the continent with a travel trailer, settling in Langley, B.C. Two years later the Posselt鈥檚 moved north to Cheslatta. Over the next decade they developed Posselt鈥檚 Home Creek Ranch. During her years on the ranch, Irmgard grew most of the food for her family in her big garden and huge greenhouses. She had chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, sheep, cows and horses. She also learned to bake bread, milk their goat and make butter and cheese. Over the years Irmgard acquired a tremendous knowledge about eating and living healthy and how to cure illness through proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle and herbs. She has helped numerous people by teaching them what she had learned. She was always willing to share her knowledge with anyone who was interested. In 1981 Irmgard decided to strike out on her own and moved into a trapper cabin at the the end of Cheslatta Road. The cabin was old and had no running water, but she enjoyed every minute that she spent there. Irmgard was a renowned artist. She supported herself by buying raw wool, washing, dying, carding, spinning and finally weaving it into beautiful wallhangings, jackets, pillows and vests of her own design. During the winter of 1999/2000 she stayed with Klaus and Angelika in 亚洲天堂 Lake, because it was getting more difficult for her to live that remote without a driver鈥檚 license or close neighbors. In the fall of 2000 she permanently moved to 亚洲天堂 Lake into a cozy house.Irmgard loved nature and all animals, but her favourites were bears and wolves. She was the happiest spending hours watching them in their natural habitat. She was a very unique person and will be greatly missed by all people whose lives she has touched.Irmgard is survived by her children Jeurgen, Klaus (Angelika), Frank (Ulrike) and her grandchildren Peter, Hanna, Wolf, Stephan, Marc and Claudia.A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Church in 亚洲天堂 Lake.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the 亚洲天堂 Lake Public Library at the Bulkley Valley Credit Union.
