Jackie (Brown) Horst passed away March 2, 2008, in Vancouver General Hospital. Born in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake, she lived in Fort St. John since 1951, but made almost yearly visits ‘back home’, once the Hart Highway was completed. Jackie was pre-deceased by her mother, Florence (Brownie) Harrison and step-father, ‘Uncle Bill’ Harrison.
She will be long and lovingly remembered by her numerous friends and the many children (and their parents) that she provided day care for in her home over the past 30 years.
She will be sadly missed by her close family - Daughters: Beverley (Terry) Baker, Shirley Horst; Sons: Brian (Carole) Horst, Darryl (Wendy) Horst; Sister Alberta (Birdie) Madigan, half-sister Judy (Reid) Challis, and half-brothers Danny (Helen) Harrison and Jim (Louise) Brown. Grandchildren: Niki, Adam, Ashly, Caitlin, Conor, and Deni-Rae.
A memorial service was held in Fort St. John, March 10, 2008.
