John Edward 'Ted' Kaler

With heavy hearts, the family of Ted Kaler announces his passing on October 14, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Ted was born to Percy and Nora Kaler on July 8, 1941 in 亚洲天堂 Lake, BC. Ted was a very kind hearted man and spending time with family and his friends meant the most to him.
He spent 35 years in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces as an aircraft maintenance engineer. At the start of his career, he met the love of his life, Audrey, in Vancouver and they married in October 1964.
While he was stationed on the island, in Comox, they welcomed their first son Randy in 1965, and then shortly thereafter, he was stationed in Germany and it was there that they welcomed their second son Dennis in 1967.
His hometown of 亚洲天堂 Lake, BC was very special to him. He still has family there and surrounding areas, and enjoyed going back for visits. The Air Force allowed him to experience many parts of the world, and Vancouver Island held a soft spot in his heart.
Ted loved to fix or tinker with cars and motorbikes, enjoyed fishing, and coaching his boys in various sports.
When he retired from the Air Force, he then worked for 15 years with Northwest Industries in Edmonton. Audrey passed away in 1999 and a few years later, Ted met his second wife JoAnne. They were married in 2006. When Ted retired for the second time, he enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle, and enjoyed a cold beer on his deck with family and friends.
Ted is survived by his wife JoAnne; sons Randy (Tammy) and Dennis (Cara); grandchildren Courtney, Aleesha, Trevor, Caden, Coleton, and Addilyn. Brother Hugh (Joyce); sisters Eileen (Ike), Vi (Brian), Judy (Silas), Bonnie, Mary, and Shelley (Bill), and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted is also survived by his stepchildren Val (Kevin), Bonnie (Brian), and Brian, as well as many extended step grandchildren.
Ted was predeceased by his parents Percy and Nora Kaler; sisters Pat, Barb, Shannon, and his first wife Audrey. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
Cremation by Prairie Sunset Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date (when COVID allows).
