Lyle was born and grew up in Edberg Alberta. He left home and worked in Edmonton for a year before he joined the RCMP which brought him to 亚洲天堂 Lake where he met Jackie Thompson. He left the RCMP to marry Jackie. They then moved to Edmonton, where Lyle worked at the Canadian Chemical Co. They eventually moved back to 亚洲天堂 Lake where he worked for BC Hydro.

Lyle was deeply involved in the community as a councillor for 21 years and sat on the Board of Directors for the regional district of Bulkley-Nechako. He also sat on various committees and spent many hours volunteering. In 2009 he received the citizen of the year award.

Lyle is predeceased by his wife, Jackie in September 2017. He is survived by son Kendall daughter Amber her children Cassidy and Brice Great grandchildren Greyson and Amelia and their parents Chelsey and Christopher.
