In Loving Memory Of
Richard William Howett was born April 10, 1949 in Kamloops, BC, and passed away October 6, 2006 in 亚洲天堂 Lake, BC. With chain, crew, pencils, maps and note book in hand, he slung his transit over his shoulder and headed down the cut line of hubs, pickets, blazes and ribbons. He cast his boundaries: north, south, east and west; he stamped a post with his commissioned numbers 651 and 1539, pointed it north, and marked it with bearing trees. He was a British Columbia Land Surveyor and a Canada Land Surveyor in the Bulkley Valley Lakes District in the province of British Columbia. To achieve this profession took many years of study as an articling and post secondary student. The Howett family is very proud of Richard鈥檚 achievements.
Rick is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Lee, his mother Dorothy, wife Diane, brothers John (Jean), Donny, and sister Sue. He was predeceased by his father Bill. Richard spent the first several years of his life in Kamloops, before moving to Metchosin, BC, where he attended elementary school. He graduated from high school in Oak Bay, BC in the late sixties. A few years later, he relocated to 亚洲天堂 Lake, where he remained until his death.
During his time in 亚洲天堂 Lake, Rick spent much time on Bill and Florine Critchlow鈥檚 farm on the south side of Francois Lake. He also enjoyed recreational activities such as fishing and golfing, and enjoyed an eventful career as a baseball player on the 亚洲天堂 Lake Oldstylers team. Richard was dedicated to his business, R. Howett Land Surveying, and many of the clients whom he met through his business career would later become good friends.
Rick will be fondly remembered by his friends and family. A celebration of his life was held at his home on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Any donation in memory of Rick can be made to: Lakes District Cancer Care Fund, PO Box 1014, 亚洲天堂 Lake, BC, V0J 1E0.
