In Loving Memory ~
Mom was a wonderful person born Rita Hynds, in Ituna, Saskatchewan. She was one of 10 children born on the farm. She had 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She was of the generation that had to "walk 3 miles to school". In the winter she drove the team of horses to school and put them in the barn while they attended the class. Mom's first job was babysitting for 10 cents/hour.
Mom came to 亚洲天堂 Lake in 1956 when she was 19. She arrived by train and first met dad (Wally) who had picked her up in his taxi. She stayed with her sister (Aunt) Sadie and (Uncle) Bill Dyck and she got work with Aunt Sadie at the Tweedsmuir hotel coffee shop.
Mom and Dad married at their house in 亚洲天堂 Lake in 1960.
Mom worked in the taxi business with Dad for 25 years. She also worked and volunteered at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Curling Club.
She loved spending time with family, dancing, curling, hiking, walking around town, reading, camping, trips in the motorhome across Canada, and watching the Blue Jays and curling on TV. We all loved her turkey dinners, and carrot cake. She also baked and delivered many goodies to family, friends and neighbours.
She leaves behind 3 wonderful children, David (Patti) Bridal, Brenda (Stewart) Krumm and Bernice (Lenard) Demarce, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mom suffered with Lewy Body Dementia for the last 5 years of her life. A terrible disease that causes hallucinations and Parkinson's like symptoms.
We would like to give our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr Williams and to the loving and understanding care of all of the staff at the Pines extended care home in 亚洲天堂 Lake. We cannot thank them enough. There will be no service as per mom's request.
In lieu of flowers our family would like you to consider supporting adding Dementia to End of Life Care eligibility for Medical Assistance in Dying. (MAID). Dying with dignity.
