Nov 24, 1932 - Feb 5, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilhelm "Willie" Nonnenmacher on February 5, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria, daughter Ute (Franz), daughter Erika (Richard), son Thomas (Astrid), grandsons Aaron and Arisan, granddaughter Rebekka, and six great-grandchildren.
Willie was born in Oberensingen, Germany and immigrated to Canada with his wife and two of his children in 1973. He started a new life for his family on the south side of Francois Lake where he enjoyed the freedom of life in the bush. He was a mechanic in Germany where he had his own shop.
After coming to Canada, he used his mechanical skills for Eurocan, then started his own business, Willie's Repair, taking his service truck into the bush to fix broken-down logging and farming equipment.
He was practical and creative, and able to find a solution to any problem, build anything and fix anything. He often lent a hand to those in need of help, whether it was a request for mechanical advice, or for a tow out of the ditch.
Willie always had a good story up his sleeve about his adventures in the bush, the interesting people he met, and his life in Germany. Those who knew him will remember his great sense of humour and his hearty laugh.
Although dad is no longer with us, he will go on living in our hearts. We are comforted knowing that he loved life and lived it to the fullest.
We will remember him as a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was the strong foundation of our family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
A private gathering of family and friends was held.
