In 1963 when working for Pearson Lumber, he was presented with the Northern Interior Lumberman's trophy for the grader with the highest standing. Bill retired from Babine Forest Products in 1988. Over the years, they have enjoyed travelling to different places.

Bill loved the outdoors, especially fishing and then the card games at Rose Lake, Legion and the travelling crib.
