Have you seen B.C. Hydro's advertisements in your local paper lately?
July is rollout time for 'Smart Meters.
Amazingly, the majority of people in B.C. still don't know what is about to happen, due mostly to Hydro's avoidance of any kind of meaningful information or discussion.
Next month it is Hydro's plan to mount, in a matter of minutes and without consultation or permission from residents, a smart meter on every building that accesses electricity from them.
The latest information just released on May 31 by the World Health Organization sheds a darker light on Hydro's original assertion that these wireless meters are completely safe.
They are not.
The revelations about major international security breaches also change the game for Hydro's wireless "Smart Grid." And then there are the issues of privacy and human rights.
These meters will negatively affect your home and the home of everyone in the province, as the microwave technology they rely on is biologically incompatible.
They will have, eventually if not immediately, negative health impacts on everyone, but especially children, pregnant women, the ill and elderly, and those with medical implants. Insects and birds, and other migratory animals will also be affected.
The dirty electricity resulting from radio frequencies generated by the meters will enjoy its ride on your home's electrical system.
To do a highly visible campaign is a costly proposition; one a grass roots movement doesn't have the funds to launch.
Currently, a growing group of informed citizens is trying to raise awareness about, and negotiate with government and Hydro for safer, greener, healthier, less costly options.
There have been a good number of letters to editors circulating province wide. There were also three of a scheduled twelve vocal, provincial public meetings held, until Hydro regrouped, and stopped them.
