The athletes have arrived for the 2024 BC Summer Games, with some already practicing for the several days of competition ahead of them.
More than 2,400 athletes will be spread out across Maple Ridge for a variety of sports including everything from soccer to sailing.
There is even a sport making its Summer Games debut this year – ultimate, which will take place at Westview Secondary.
Maple Ridge Mayor Dan Ruimy said that the city is excited that the Summer Games are finally here and hopes that as many people as possible show up to support the many athletes from across the province.
"I encourage everyone to take some time to watch the competitions to cheer on all athletes and make them feel at home," said Ruimy.
"Let the Games begin!"
While the bulk of practices will take place on Thursday, some athletes got a bit of a head start, including the equestrian competitors who were out doing some jumping at Maple Ridge Equi-Sports Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
The BC Summer Games competitions will begin on Thursday, July 18, and continue through Sunday, July 21.
