The Victoria Cougars鈥� century celebrations continued Friday morning as the Victoria Hockey Legacy Society unveiled a refurbished monument at Oak Bay High commemorating the team鈥檚 .
Originally installed in 2000 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Cougars鈥� historic championship, the plaque honours their legacy as the last team from British Columbia to win the Stanley Cup.
The Cougars secured their title at Patrick Arena, Victoria鈥檚 first major indoor hockey venue.
Located in Oak Bay, the 4,000-seat arena was a hub for early West Coast hockey and home to the Cougars during their championship run.
Tragically, the arena was destroyed by fire in 1929, but its legacy remains a significant part of Canadian hockey history.
Fans and history enthusiasts can visit the restored monument at 2121 Cadboro Bay Road.
