A very polite and nice thing happened to a gaggle of Canada geese in Chilliwack.
The feathered family of eight 鈥 two adults and six goslings 鈥 were escorted across Yale Road at Nowell Street in downtown Chilliwack on Friday, April 29.
鈥淭oday one of our officers had the honour of keeping some of our nation鈥檚 most famous flock safe,鈥 RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Krista Vrolyk said.
It was Const. Gurpreet Manhas who helped the birds cross.
鈥淚t was a pleasure to help these geese cross the road. My concern was they were going to get hit by a car. I鈥檓 glad they made it safely,鈥 Const. Manhas said.
They crossed the street almost inside the lines of the crosswalk, but not quite. The event was captured on video by Amara Jacklynne Moore.
She said it was 鈥渃ute鈥 to witness the crossing.
鈥淎 couple of us had quite the time making sure they got to the Salish pond safely after the officer had made sure they crossed the street safely,鈥 Moore said.
