Dozens of dog owners and their furry pets joined the annual Lakes District Kennel Club鈥檚 dog show on May 4-5 in the Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena in 亚洲天堂 Lake. Owners came from across British Columbia and Alberta. Participating dogs were judged on conformation and obedience. (Blair McBride photos)

亚洲天堂 Lake resident Tracey Payne on April 25 led a seed starting workshop, showing attendees how to start plants and vegetables indoors - or in a greenhouse - so that they鈥檙e ready for planting outside after the last frost day of the spring has passed. Pitch in to clean up

亚洲天堂 Lake put on Pitch-In Day on May 2, when residents picked up trash and tried to make the village cleaner. Around 20 people took part, including children, high school students and other members of community organizations and local businesses. Trash pick-up areas included Gerow Island, along Highway 16 from Lakes District Maintenance to Home Hardware, behind the College of New Caledonia, along the creek from Lakes District Secondary School to the Chamber of Commerce and Spirit Square.

Over 1,600 people attend 亚洲天堂 Lake trade show

The 亚洲天堂 Lake and District Chamber of Commerce 2019 Trade Show ran on April 26-27 in the Tom Forsyth Memorial. Inside the arena there were 42 booths and 15 booths outside from businesses, services and government from 亚洲天堂 Lake, Prince George, Smithers and Houston. Several musical and dance performers entertained attendees on both days. 鈥淚 think the trade show was a huge success,鈥 said organizer and past president of the Chamber of Commerce Laura Blackwell.

Organic Gardening Day

Starland Timber Mart hosted its Organic Gardening Day 2019 on April 27. Local gardeners set up displays on soil, seed types and mushroom growing, and gave advice on organic gardening. There were giveaways of a greenhouse frame and gardening books. A beekeeper from Telkwa brought honey and some beehives. Around 200 people attended the event. (Blair McBride photos)
