The Beacon Theatre in 亚洲天堂 Lake recently celebrated its 70 th anniversary. The week of Feb.21 to Feb. 27 saw numerous feature films, a concert, and a special Frozen II sing-a-long happen, all as a way to mark the years that have passed with a touch of fun.

The fifth performance of Lakes District Arts Council鈥檚 14th season took place on Feb. 28. Anne of Green Gables 鈥� The Ballet. Canada鈥檚 Ballet Jorgen presented the iconic story, brought to new life in a new production from Toronto, presented by Canada鈥檚 touring ballet company. The ballet was a colourful and evocative production that transported the audience to early 20th century Atlantic Canada. The ballet is based on the beloved Canadian novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Around 125 hearty audience members braved -23 temperatures and a snowy day to be warmed, body and soul, by Vivace on Jan. 16 at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Community Church. Vivace is a classical/crossover quartet, which meant there was music to please everyone in the audience.The members of Vivace, Tiffany, Taylor, Joey and Joel, have distinct voices and each his or her own generous, warm and witty personality. The vocalists are accompanied by Elyse on violin and Paloma on piano.

William Konkin Elmentary School performa wonderful and entertaiining play and Christmas concert on Dec. 12. The play and concert was about eleves who thought they were over worked and a Santa who seemed to be under worked. The children did a spectacular job and entertained a packed house. The Lakes District Community Choir presented its annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 8 at Immaculate Church, under the direction of Martina Zechendorf, and with conductors Gordon Oxendale and Margaret Neave. The Choir performed excepts from the Christmas musical 鈥淢ary, Did You Know?鈥� , traditional carols including 鈥榃hite Christmas鈥�, and a sing-along 鈥楳essiah鈥�, in which the choir was joined by audience members young and old.
