Centennial art unveiling ceremony was held at the Village of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and organized by the Lakes District Museum Society on Dec. 6. Kara Palmer’s painting was unveiled and at least a 100 people attended the social gathering and participated in the silent auction. Annamarie Douglas, Lakes District ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà employee’s three paintings were also at the exhibition. In total, there were 17 paintings and eight artists from ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and one from Smithers. The seven other artists were, Barb Durban-Wilson, Sashka Macievich, Teresa Wojdak, Sarah Belford, Gemma Elliott, Lynda Peebles and Patricia Haley. This was a final event of ‘The Search for ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lakes Centennial Artist’ and all the artworks were all part of it. The artists donated these artworks to the museum in celebration of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake’s first century. Total amount generated from the auction was $2650 and half of the proceeds will be returned to the artists; the remainder will be used to organize art-related events in 2024.
