Chinook Community Forest has recently donated about 700 cubic metres of fibre 鈥 which equates to about 200 cords of firewood worth roughly $56,000 鈥 to 亚洲天堂 Lake area residents affected by wildfires.
Ken Nielsen, Chinook Community Forest鈥檚 manager, said Chinook and the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako felt it was important to help evacuated residents transition back into their homes as easily as possible.
鈥淐hinook felt providing firewood was one way of doing this, as a lot of folks were and still are under stress over the whole ordeal,鈥 he said.
The firewood is available for pickup three kms down Keefe鈥檚 Landing Road at Murdoch Forest Service Road.
Nielsen asks residents to be 鈥渕indful,鈥 only taking what they need in the short term, as there are many residents that need quick access to firewood.
鈥淲e would not have been able to do this without the help of Ootsa Cattle Company, Hurricane Processing, 亚洲天堂 Lake Native Logging, and Babine Forest Products,鈥 added Nielsen. 鈥淚t is great that we can all pull together and do this for the wildfire evacuated residents.鈥
