According to the College of New Caledonia (CNC), the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) students at the Lakes District campus remained virtually unchanged between the 2016/17 and 2017/18 school years.
While the FTE student count in 2016-17 was 49.47, the FTE count in 2017-18 was 49.18.
According to Dustin Ruth, a CNC spokesperson, this semester the Lakes District campus is excited to be hosting its first practical nursing cohort. The program currently has 11 students studying to become nurses.
鈥淎s it stands, there is a great deal of programming set to start in 亚洲天堂 Lake throughout the next few months,鈥 he said.
The Lakes District campus is also running a tuition-free Pathways to Reaching Employment Potential (P.R.E.P) program once again, which is designed to prepare students for the workplace. Currently, the P.R.E.P. offering is 鈥淔irst Nations in the Workforce鈥 with 鈥淧ublic Speaking and Workplace Communication鈥 starting up in November.
This month, CNC鈥檚 Lakes District campus is scheduled to begin academic upgrading programs at the Cheslatta Carrier Nation Training Centre and Wet鈥檚uwet鈥檈n First Nation. Starting in November, CNC will also be running tuition-free P.R.E.P. courses at the Cheslatta Nation Training Centre.
In addition, CNC will be starting a Community Adult Literacy Program at the end of October called 鈥淧ower of Words鈥 in partnership with the 亚洲天堂 Lake Public Library, and a Pipe Trades Foundation running from Feb. 4, 2019 to July 26, 2019.
The FTE count for the 2018-19 school year won鈥檛 be released until next year, according to the college.
