亚洲天堂 Lake Snowmobile Club plans to host its 2024 Cold Smoke Drags on Feb. 10.

Due to the dry winter and lack of snow, there are concerns about the annual event occurring on time.

Dennis Firomski, 亚洲天堂 Lake Snowmobile Club鈥檚 president, said it鈥檚 a tough call on how much snow is required for racing.

鈥淲e need a good packed base and then some fresh on top of that to protect it.鈥�

Firomski said the club takes snow off their parking lot and adds it to the starting line to build up that area, as it is the most critical area as far as safety goes due to the trenching that occurs.

鈥淲e will look at how much snow we have and whether it will be enough to run the races safely.鈥�

He said if the race gets cancelled, all sponsorship money will be returned, and the club will notify everyone about the cancellation through their website, Facebook, etc.

Last year on Dec. 2, the club鈥檚 security cameras caught individuals driving on the track when there was a clear sign saying no ATV鈥檚 allowed. The club posted in their Facebook group that it is the worst time of year to vandalize the track when prepped, groomed and levelled to make it safe for the Cold Smoke Drags鈥� racers.

Firomski said the vandalism on the track was later investigated with the use of security camera footage and Facebook posts. He added that the offender later apologized over the phone for the dreadful incident.

Also, there was a fuel theft incident from the club鈥檚 groomer. Since the theft incident, Firomski said the club changed procedures to prevent and catch such future acts.

At this point, the club is planning to proceed with the races, but that decision will be finalized on Jan. 27.
