Former mayor back in court July 19

Scheduled to choose method of trial

Former ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake mayor Luke Strimbold is scheduled to decide next month how he wishes to be tried on sex-related offence charges laid earlier this year.

Defence and Crown representatives appeared via teleconference in Smithers provincial court June 19 at which time the next date of July 19 was set.

Strimbold has yet to enter a plea to the charges dating back to alleged incidents in 2016 and 2017. The alleged incidents involve four people, three of whom were under 16 at the time.

He can choose to be tried by judge alone or by a judge and jury.

Defence and Crown representatives have appeared via teleconference several times in court since the charges were first laid in February.

No allegations have been proved in court.
