Lake Babine Nation Forestry (LBN Forestry) announced it has signed a long-term log supply and forest management agreement with West Fraser to supply logs for West Fraser鈥檚 Pacific Inland Resources Sawmill in Smithers, B.C. from their First Nations Woodland License. The agreement also provides for West Fraser to work with LBN Forestry in the sustainable long-term management of the new First Nations Woodland License. This follows the announcement in April of 2024 that LBN Forestry signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with West Fraser whereby the parties agreed to combine their local tenure volumes into a single First Nations Woodland Licence (FNWL). The signing of this new Log Supply and Forest Management agreement now provides the Provincial Government with notice to proceed with issuing the new First Nations Woodland License to LBN Forestry, expected to occur in 2025.
