亚洲天堂 Lake residents had a chance to find out more about the village鈥檚 mayoral candidates last week.
Candidates Dolores Funk, Albert Gerow and John Rauch participated in the All Candidates Debate, held by the 亚洲天堂 Lake and District Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 3, 2018.
Funk said she decided to run for mayor because she believes in the democratic system and has a 鈥渞eal passion鈥� for the area. She also said she has an 鈥渆xcellent skills base鈥� that she believes will serve the public well if she becomes mayor.
Gerow said his vision is to make 亚洲天堂 Lake and the Lakes District a 鈥渄estination鈥� for business, hospitality and tourism by promoting bioeconomy opportunities, enhancing forest harvesting and promoting the area as 鈥渃ottage country.鈥�
Rauch said that although a mayor can鈥檛 promise to wave a magic wand and make new industries appear, he promises to establish a 鈥渕ayor鈥檚 roundtable鈥� for the topics that matter to the public, and set a 鈥渟mart course鈥� for the future.
亚洲天堂 Lake鈥檚 four councillor candidates 鈥� Charlie Rensby, Darrell Hill, Kevin White and Henry Wiebe 鈥� will be acclaimed as village councillors.
General election day will be held Oct. 20.
