Regional District of Bulkley Nechako (RDBN) held a meeting on Dec. 14 and discussed on issuing a three-year Temporary Use Permit (TUP) to allow short-term rentals at the 1675 Gowan Road property in 亚洲天堂 Lake.

The purpose of the TUP is to allow the operation of short-term rental/temporary accommodations in a single-family dwelling on this property.

The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake bought the former George and Bernice Magee residence for $900,000 earlier this year.

The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake wants to use this property for Airbnbs and bed and breakfast for short-term economic development initiatives until more concrete outdoor recreational plans develop.

A Temporary Use Permit allows a property to be used for three years, not permitted by zoning bylaws. If the TUP expires, the applicant can request a maximum renewal of three additional years.

Linda McGuire, Granisle鈥檚 mayor, questioned whether this TUP is required for bed and breakfast鈥檚 zoning bylaw or to increase the dwelling capacity from eight to a maximum of 12 people.

Jason Llewellyn, RDBN鈥檚 planning director, replied that bed and breakfast requires no zoning bylaw. They only need permanent residents to operate the Bed and Breakfast.

Llewellyn said that the TUP is strictly for converting the dwelling into short-term rentals.

Seeing no further comments or questions, Mark Parker, RDBN鈥檚 chairperson, approved this TUP.

Coastal GasLink (CGL)

RDBN decided to send their report on their findings on the proposed Coastal GasLink鈥檚 Segundo Lake Compressor Station site location to B.C. Energy Regulator.

Previously, RDBN requested to review CGL鈥檚 proposed compressor station site, and no construction or operation permit should be issued by B.C. Energy Regulator until it was completed.

This is why this report was produced, which Michael Rii-Christianson, RDBN鈥檚 亚洲天堂 Lake director, updated.

Within the report, RDBN stated that this land has no rural zoning bylaw conflicts and is not within any agricultural area, which meets the requirements for addressing any anticipated adverse impacts to the surrounding area (noise, vibration, dust, i.e.).

RDBN also noted that the proposed site location has an 18-hectare footprint of Crown land, which has already been cleared and is currently used for CGL鈥檚 stockpile and lay-down yard.

The compressor station is located off Tercer Lake Forest Service Road east of Tchesinkut Lake, between 亚洲天堂 Lake and Fraser Lake.

The purpose of this compressor station was to increase the capacity of natural gas flowing through CGL鈥檚 pipeline as part of their project鈥檚 phase two operation.

Chairperson Parker motioned for the staff鈥檚 recommendations, and the board agreed.
