The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake has decided to repay the Water Treatment Plant loan budget of $431,404.50 from the water capital reserves.
A total of $503,304.50 has been borrowed from the Municipal Finance Association (MFA), for the construction of the water treatment plant, and $71,900 has already been paid off against the principal of the loan in 2023, resulting in the current owing balance.
Director of Finance of the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake Sashka Macievich said it is better to pay now in full and acquire more fundable loans to fund future projects through the MFA.
Foundry
Council will allocate $5,000 from the Comfor reserve to the foundry鈥檚 new building in 亚洲天堂 Lake.
Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake Councillor Kevin White said he does not feel that a lot of money can be made, nor can the council afford to do it.
Carrier Sekani Family Services had requested council to waive the building permit fees of The Foundry鈥檚 new facility at an earlier meeting on Oct. 24.
Councillor White has concerns that this might open doors for tax deferment and other issues.
Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake Councillor Charlie Rensby said that he is in 100 per cent agreement that the council cannot set a precedent, and those current fees must be paid in full and go into the coffers and go through the process.
鈥淲e don鈥檛 want to get roped into doing other things in the future for other projects.鈥
Support for RDBN
Council will support the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako鈥檚 (RDBN) application to Northern Development Initiative Trust鈥檚 Northern Healthy Communities fund for the Regional Housing Capacity Initiative.
Councillor Rensby said he is curious about this project and made suggestions to the Director of Planning from RDBN, Jason Llewellyn [attended by Zoom], to form a community housing coordinator that can be used for both public and private services with different government agencies, businesses, and the community.
Llewellyn said that such a position would open working opportunities on housing initiatives in the municipality and would not be limited to working with local governments. This would also enable the private sector to work with groups looking to plan and develop non-profit housing initiatives.
Donation
Council has decided to make a $500 donation to The Link鈥檚 Season of Giving campaign to be allocated from Legislative Grants Issued.
