Anna Janzen celebrated her 90 birthday along with her family at The Pines nursing home in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake, on March 5. Anna and her family came to the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake area in 1940 from Saskatchewan and settled on land in the Cheslatta area that the government provided. They brought their own livestock and farm implements. The family lived in tents for about a year until a log cabins were built. Anna and her sisters helped out their parents with gardening and farming, picked berries off the land and caught fish in the spring and canned them. When she was older she worked as a nanny for families in the area and as a nurses aid at the hospital in Vanderhoof. Happy Birthday Anna. (Blair McBride photo)
