On the morning of April 21, 2012 Fort St. James RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male on the Tachie Reserve.
Upon attending the scene, RCMP officers located a deceased male, outside a residence.
North District Major Crime Section, B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP Forensic Identification Services were called to the scene and an investigation ensued.
鈥淧olice now have one male in custody in relation to this investigation,鈥� said Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
鈥淰irgil Hummingbird Thomas has been charged with one count of manslaughter and will be in court for his first appearance this week.鈥�
Fort St. James RCMP has identified the deceased victim as being Alfred Joseph Jr. of the Tachie Reserve.
