Editor:
Thank you Rebecca for accurately reporting on our presentation to the council regarding the Lakes Artisan’s Center. Just for the record I did not write the presentation.
It was an cooperative affair. A few points I would like to reiterate. We have represented 17 artists and 6 quest artists over two years, none of which could be in business on their own.
Now I have a few questions for the council and public, if the center is closed: where will local artists display their work, who will encourage and provide an easy venue for emerging artists, and where will residents go to buy a wide range of local arts and crafts?
What is the maintenance cost in terms of snow removal, heating, vandalism, if the building is closed.
I think that we are an interpretive center in showing that ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake has talent and initiative.
And as for council having a change of heart. Well a change of heart in many situations is both permissible and valuable.
Respectfully Yours,
Mrs. Paula Laurie
P.S renting kayaks, ( an excellent idea) and collecting garbage could be seen as a business or a service to the community
