Editor:
I woke up this morning at 1:30 a.m. to the sounds of sirens.
For a bit I just laid there trying not to wake Juanita. Thankfully I didn't, she really needs to little bit of sleep she is getting.
It was some seconds before I realized that there were no sirens. No one was going to need help, it was just another dream.
I am up and looking at the clock, it is 1:48 a.m. I am not going to get anymore sleep for a while so I might as well write the paper.
Who did what really is not important, except to get the sequence of events straight. I have spent this last week doing just that. Finally I have most events in place with the help of other people.
What is important is that everyone I ran into that night manned up and got things done; not just the guys and gals on shift but all the way down the line.
We are really lucky to have people like that in our town. So our appreciation goes out to all involved, this must include the wives, husbands, friends and families.
ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake was not the easiest town to be raised in, but it has changed and is changing for the better.
I am proud to say that ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake is my home. Where we go now as a town is up to us. The next two years are going to be hard.
For myself when Babine starts to rebuild, I am going to be here, health permitting.
The younger guys are going to need a few dinosaurs around just to hear us say, "Hey back in the day we ... fill in the rest with the best B.S. you have."
To the families who lost loved ones, or had loved ones hurt, there is nothing I or we can say to lessen your pain, I will not try. However, we are with you in it, at least in a small way, and our heart felt prayers go out to you all.
Our best wishes to all
