As the 64th Annual All Native Basketball Tournament moved into its third day of competition Feb. 12, spectators witnessed the first wave of eliminations. In the women鈥檚 division four teams bowed out after suffering their second consecutive loss in a relentless double-knockout format.
Among the day鈥檚 highlights was the inspiring performance by Ahousahat, steamrolling over Gitsegukla with an astonishing final score of 100 to 20. This victory not only cemented Ahousahat鈥檚 dominance but also spelled the end for Gitsegukla in the tournament.
Joining the team in their exit were Lax Kw鈥檃lams, Hartley Bay, and Lytton, all of whom faced the harsh reality of elimination.
Meanwhile, New Aiyansh, Massett, Prince Rupert, and the victorious Ahousahat have dodged elimination, securing their spots to advance to the next level of competition.
The Intermediates also saw their first elimination from the tournament as Hartley Bay fell to New Aiyansh 89-52.
Today will see four eliminations in the Masters Division as well as more in both the Women鈥檚 and Intermediate divisions.
Also on Feb. 13, the Seniors bracket will go down by one team following the elimination game between Bella Bella and Metlakatla BC at 10 p.m.
