After winning the zone championship in Fraser Lake last month, the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Bruins placed third at the Tier 4 Provincials in Port Alberni.
The Bruins had a great start to the tournament, beating Coquitlam and Surrey. To advance into the finals, ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake needed a tie with Windermere Valley. Both teams went into the third period with a 2-2 tie, but Windermere scored early and ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake was unable to score a goal late in the third.
The team was awarded the bronze medal along with the ‘fair play’ award. Coach Tracey Brown said the players were happy with their placement as they were unsure as to whether they would even have a team last fall.
