Kyle McMahon, who was born and raised in 亚洲天堂 Lake, has recently announced he will be retiring from competitive swimming.

鈥淚 am confident that I left no stone unturned, did the best I could with everything I had and became as successful as I could be during my time as a swimmer,鈥 he said.

McMahon represented Canada at the 2009 and 2010 World Championships and the 2011 Pan Pacific Championships.

At the London 2012 Paralympic trials in Montreal, he won gold in the 50 metres butterfly while setting a Canadian record on his twenty first birthday. During the Rio Paralympic trials this past April, he finished off his career with a bronze medal in the 50 metres butterfly. Other career highlights include winning two gold medals at the 2009 Canada Summer Games in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

McMahon now plans to resume his pursuit of a business degree at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

鈥淚 am looking forward to the new challenges life throws my way,鈥 he said.
