The Jr. All Native Tournament is underway in Kelowna.
The basketball tournament for youth age six to 17 started on Monday, Mar. 17 at various school gymnasiums in the city.
Both 17U host teams from the Syilx Nation stepped on the court on day 1 at Kelowna Secondary School.
The Syilx 17U boys battled it out at 2:30 p.m. against Ahousaht. The opposing team came out on top with a final score of 67-79.
Following the boys, the Syilx 17U girls played their second game of the day after a win against Gingolx in the morning. The girls had a tough game, being defeated 85-21 by Nuxalk.
The new 10U co-ed division of the tournament starts tomorrow, Mar. 18, at Rutland Middle School. The division includes two local Syilx teams. Syilx 1 takes on Gitwangak at 10:50 a.m. and Syilx 2 steps on the court at 1:10 p.m. against Vancity.
