For the first time in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Minor Hockey history six players were chosen to play in the male under 16 B.C. Cup Tournament in the one year.
The tournament was held from April 27 to May 1 in Kamloops.
The six; Tyler Havens (goalie), Ryan Wilson (official), Logan Gray (defense man), Josh Janzen (forward), Matthew Skinner (defense man) and Cody Bardarson (forward) all attend Lakes District Secondary School and were chosen to represent the Northwest zone at the tournament during tryouts in Smithers recently.
The tournament hosts the most talented 15 year old players in B.C. and prepares them for the next step in their developmental process.
A total of 200 players were selected to compete in the tournament from zone camps that are held earlier in the year.
The B.C. Cup Tournament is a jamboree style competition and the 200 players are mixed to make a total of 10 teams.
This season was the first year the tournament was a 10 team competition, resulting in some zones selecting more than 20 players.
The tournament is also used as a scouting tool for hockey clubs.
The boys played five games in four days and had the chance to meet other elite hockey players from across B.C.
During the competition, Bardarson achieved two assists while Janzen and Skinner both scored one goal each.
