Big Pig Mountain Biking Festival in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake

The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Mountain Biking Association hosted its tenth annual Big Pig Mountain Biking Festival Aug. 11 to 13. Despite Boer Mountain being almost completely socked in with smoke for most of the week, the event had a good turnout. By Saturday afternoon, the much-needed rain put a slight damper on the evening entertainment, but mountain bikers are tough.

Approximately 70 bikers from all over the world made a stop in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake last week as part of the B.C. Bike Ride North, an event that connects mountain bikers on a tour of six northern B.C. communities. Bikers used the Kager Lake campground as their base. According to the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Mountain Biking Association, this was a great opportunity to showcase the local area and trails.

Two ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake athletes - Brandon Larsen and Brendan Alec - have recently returned home from the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg. They were among the 15 players selected for Team B.C. Men’s Softball. Although the athletes didn’t bring home any medals, they said they made new friends while having a wonderful experience at the games.
