20 students from SD91 travelled to UNBC campus to engage with award-winning researcher

Dave Collie lived in 亚洲天堂 Lake for his first 18 years of life. He now resides in Chilliwack and vounlteers for Chilliwack Disaster Relief Group. When he heard what his hometown was going through with the wildfires he wanted to help. 鈥淚t is my home town I had to help. This is a joint effort from people all over the Lower Mainland that have stepped up. Not just Chilliwack we have had donations come in from North Vancouver and Delta/Tsawwassen and Maple Ridge,鈥� said Collie.

The Cops for Cancer Tour de North arrived in 亚洲天堂 Lake Monday morning. The group stopped at local schools in 亚洲天堂 Lake. Their next stop was Houston, Monday afternoon where the group stopped and had lunch at Happy Jacks Pub and met with local residents. They continued onto Smithers where their first stop was at sponsor Canadian Tire, where manager Shane Mooth spoke of the personal effect the disease had on him as he thanked the riders and their supporters.

亚洲天堂 Lake is home to both grizzly bears and black bears. Bears are extremely sensitive to human disturbance and activity. Avoiding an encounter is the best way to protect both yourself and bears.

The Lakes District Fall Fair Association and the Lakes District Arts Council presented Vancouver Island-based children鈥檚 entertainers The Kerplunks on Sept. 7 and 8. The Kerplunks performed at Francois Lake School and at William Konkin Elementary School (with the students of Decker Lake Elementary School as guests). The children鈥檚 group also performed two free shows for kids and families in the Lakes District Secondary School.

September is World Alzheimer鈥檚 Month and the Alzheimer Society of B.C. is inviting Lakes District residents to bring their friends, co-workers or customers together throughout the month 鈥� or in October 鈥� by hosting a Coffee Break庐 fundraiser.
